Whether you need to de-stress a little or simply want to look after yourself, there’s nothing better than the Rituels d’Orient hammam and spa, one of the best places to relax in Barcelona.

Located near L’Illa and Francesc Macià, it offers relaxation and beauty treatments of Turkish and Moroccan origin, ranging from the hammam and its traditional body scrub to massages and special packages they recommend.

It’s decorated in the purest Oriental style and feels wonderfully calm from the moment you step into its little entrance, where they sell 100% natural products such as soaps, creams, oils, elixirs, clays for the face and body, horsehair mitts (the same ones they use in their treatments) and also some lovely sarongs, the kind usually used in hammams, known as futas.

The treatment I’ve had several times myself, and often give as a present, is the Ritual Al Medina, which includes a hammam, body scrub and Oriental massage (20 or 40 minutes). It’s the perfect combination for coming out feeling renewed; in total it lasts 120 or 140 minutes depending on the massage you choose, and costs €69 or €89 respectively.
