Our second experience was great fun and really rewarding, because our time knocked the leaders off the top of the leaderboard! 🙂

As I’ve explained before, the game is all about “escaping” from a space in less than an hour. Gangsters and killers set traps to finish off the detectives. Cracking clues and riddles, uncovering secret messages, solving puzzles… all of this helps you move forward in the game. And in the end, if you’re the competitive type, the goal is no longer just getting out within the hour but beating the time of the team in first place.

Our first experience at another escape room in Barcelona was a bit disheartening, since they had to help us out with extra clues! We did manage to get out, but in the 59th minute… only just! We think our mistake was not working as a team. We were all over the place, each of us finding things on our own, and either we didn’t share them or, if we did, the rest of us paid no attention.

This second time we were clear about it: we had to stick together and share everything we found or thought of. And teamwork was what helped us crack one challenge after another quickly and efficiently. Whatever didn’t occur to one of us occurred to someone else.

Our first goal was to get out without any extra help. And not only did we manage that, we set a record time. So we came out in high spirits and keen for more.

What’s more, at the end of every month, the top two on the leaderboard win a dinner. So off we went to enjoy dinner at Gata Mala, a small and truly delicious restaurant in the heart of Gràcia.
