Where have the galets gone?
I don’t know if you remember, but at Christmas Barcelona dressed up as soup. As part of the Christmas decorations, giant galets (the big pasta shells that go into Catalan Christmas soup) lit up corners of the city. At night they ‘switched on’ from the inside, encouraging people to keep centuries-old traditions alive.
Those galets are now part of a different scene. While they wait for next Christmas to come round, they’re resting on the lawn of the old Fabra i Coats spinning mill. An impressive factory that I’ll write a post about another day.
