The Human Bodies exhibition
The other day we visited the exhibition ‘Human Bodies. Anatomía de la vida’ (Human Bodies: The Anatomy of Life), which is on permanent display at the Arenas de Barcelona shopping centre.
The exhibition is divided by body system and runs through several rooms where you discover the human skeletal, muscular, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, nervous, urinary and reproductive systems.
You can see 12 complete bodies and more than 150 organs that have undergone plastination, a scientific technique that makes it possible to preserve organs and whole bodies.
Large panels set out little curiosities about the human body in a very simple, educational way. They answer questions such as which is the largest organ or muscle in the body, or what damage tobacco can do to our bodies.
We went with children aged 4 to 9 and we all found it really interesting and educational. We had a great time and discovered lots of new things!
A funny moment: one of the panels explains that in the morning we’re all one centimetre taller than at the end of the day. To which one of the little ones with us said: ‘pues que el médico nos mida siempre por la mañana’ (well then, the doctor should always measure us in the morning). We thought that was hilarious.
