Racó de la Vila restaurantAfter the night-time visit to the Poblenou Cemetery, which finished at around 9pm, we decided on the spur of the moment to grab some dinner nearby. At first sight the area seemed a bit bleak, but thanks to new technology and Google Maps several restaurants popped up to choose from, and without knowing anything about it we ended up at the Racó de la Vila restaurant, on the way to the metro home. This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. It looks like a Catalan masia (a traditional farmhouse), cosy and spread over several spaces; the service is really friendly and the food is spectacular!

As we weren’t very hungry, we ordered a mixed selection of dishes to share (pica-pica) and thoroughly enjoyed it. Baby squid, prawns, Galician-style octopus (pulpo a la gallega), croquettes, assorted cheeses and ham. All of excellent quality; my favourites were the octopus and the prawns. But I’ll have to go back, and this time try the soupy rice (arroz caldoso) and the meat cooked on a hot stone, which looked amazing.
