La Pedrera has many secrets, and this new night tour of Casa Milà reveals some of them. It opens today, Saturday 17 March.

La Pedrera Secreta, Barcelona

The route is practically the usual one, but the charm of the visit lies in doing it at night, and in how exceptionally well it’s guided. Shadows projected from inside the windows of the house bring La Pedrera to life and let you imagine how people lived back then. Each projection comes with sounds that help create a special atmosphere.

Personally, I think it’s a very good initiative, but it could be improved by livening up the tour with early 20th-century music and adding an actor or two in period costume who pop up along the way. In some parts of the tour there’s too much light, which doesn’t help create a warm atmosphere.

The good thing is that the groups are small (30 people maximum), so you can take in the different rooms of the house at a more relaxed pace. It’s also a special visit that ends with a glass of cava, after a quick look back at what life was like in the incredible Casa Milà.
