Carrer Sèneca, interior design in Barcelona
Carrer Sèneca has been getting people talking for a while now. It’s a street that has gradually taken shape as a number of shops devoted to interior design have opened one next to the other, until they now cover a good part of the frontages along this little street.
Second-hand furniture, pieces of their own design, mix-and-match, made to measure, all of it stylish and every piece with a little story to tell: lights from old factory buildings, shelves from the old Santa Eulalia shop, school chairs… all arranged so cleverly that you can’t help falling in love. I fell for a table that is now my desk, after going to visit it every Friday for a month until I finally made up my mind. Still, going too often isn’t good for you, because you’d end up taking home half of every shop, and that could only ever happen in your dreams.
If you haven’t been down this lovely street yet, I’d recommend taking a stroll and having a good look around, because even if you don’t end up buying anything, it’s food for the mind and soul for anyone who loves design, all very ‘comme il faut’.
But it isn’t only decoration shops that line the street: there are also fashion shops, places to eat, photography studios… and among them a strange bookshop specialising in books of a, let’s say… dictatorial persuasion.
If you want to keep up with what they’re doing, all the shops in the area have joined forces to form a Facebook community, Séneca Distinta. And different it certainly is!
Here are a few photos of Carrer Sèneca.
