Organic supermarket and restaurant, Feeld OrganicYesterday we met Brais, one of the partners at Feeld Organic, through a string of tweets. It may not be an original way to meet these days, but it really tickled me.

We decided to go for breakfast at a newly opened place on Diagonal, between Muntaner and Casanova. It wasn’t just the look of it that caught our eye, but also the kind of produce: all organically farmed. A tweet asking for made-to-order sandwiches led to an online conversation, which ended with us meeting Brais in person; he’s in charge of communications at this new space. And that’s how he came to explain to us the whole concept of the new place, which opened just 3 days ago.

Feeld Organic is a three-in-one: café, restaurant and supermarket offering organically farmed produce, also known as bio.

The café, clearly visible from the street, offers sweet and savoury food, Saula coffee and freshly squeezed juices that taste extraordinary. On one of its walls there’s a drawing by Conrad Roset, a Barcelona artist I love.

Also on the ground floor, and clearly visible as you walk in, is the supermarket, with enough variety to do your whole weekly shop. Open from 9am to 9pm, Monday to Saturday, it stocks fresh fruit and veg, alcoholic and soft drinks, a macrobiotic section that includes Japanese products, pasta, loose pulses you can measure out into very stylish glass bottles, meat, cheese, fish, toiletries, pet food, plant protein, dairy and more. Worth mentioning: they don’t sell bottled water, to avoid the plastic waste it creates; instead, you can fill your bottle with cool filtered water from their fountain.

And finally, upstairs, there’s the restaurant, which serves set lunch menus (menú del día) at various prices to suit every pocket. We haven’t tried it yet.

The décor is fresh and comes with real plants that make you feel you’re breathing clean air right in the middle of the Diagonal.

Following as closely as possible a philosophy of organic, sustainable, local and socially responsible produce, Feeld Organic is more than just a café, restaurant or supermarket. All of us at anotherBCN wish them every success.
