Earrings against hunger#arracadescontralafam is an initiative by a group of jewellers to collect food to fight hunger. Yesterday, for the second year running, they launched this campaign, in which they give sterling silver earrings to everyone who brings in packaged, long-life food (rice, pasta, pulses, sugar, salt, milk, oil…). Everything these jewellers collect will be donated to the Banco de Alimentos food bank, which will distribute it to those most in need. Five shops are involved in the campaign, all of them from Barcelona. They sell sterling silver jewellery, both wholesale and retail. Last year, when the campaign started in one of the shops, they collected 534kg of food. Now that the campaign has been extended to 5 shops, they hope to collect much more.

The #arracadescontralafam campaign will run until Reyes (Three Kings’ Day, 6 January) or until the earrings run out. So we’d encourage you to take part and to share this initiative!
