Maximum Room Escape in Barcelona
I know, it’s been ages since we last wrote. But we’re kicking off the blog’s ‘rentrée’ with an escape room we went to last week, ‘Gangsters: dinero, armas y alcohol’ (Gangsters: money, guns and booze) by Maximum Room Escape.
One of the best we’ve done so far. Spectacular set design inspired by 1920s America, Chicago during Prohibition to be precise, with some beautifully kept period objects. Alcohol smuggling is the thread running through this little adventure, which lasts an hour or less, depending on how skilled you are.
It starts really well and ends even better. All you need is a team of 2 to 4 people and a bit of ingenuity and logic.

Maximum Escape has six escape games, all of them very highly rated. We’ve also done ‘La Mazmorra: la última partida’ (The Dungeon: the last game), which is simply brilliant too. We’re prisoners in a gloomy setting full of nooks and crannies. Honestly, I couldn’t say which of the two I’d rate higher.
But the one with the best reviews is ‘Refugio 27’ (Shelter 27), perhaps because it lasts an hour and a half or because it’s the hardest. We can’t give our opinion on that one yet, because we haven’t done it. Either way, we think it’s always better to start with easier escape rooms, to learn the ropes and save the best for last.

And there you have a great idea for a Christmas present, or for any other time of year. 😉
