Perfumery, BarcelonaRM is the name of this small perfumery near Plaça Francesc Macià, taken from the initials of its owner, Ramón Monegal, one of the most important perfumers Barcelona has ever had and a fourth-generation descendant of the founders of Myrurgia.

Rather than a perfumery, this is really a perfumer who, among other things, has created this little space in which to develop his own long-lasting perfumes with unique fragrances. Under a single brand, RM, you’ll find around fifteen perfumes, plus various home fragrances in the form of sprays, sachets, candles or coins. To work out which scent you like, there are little paper strips, very handily arranged in a fan.

Going back to the roots of the craft, the shop surprises us with a small workshop where the idea is for the perfumer himself to create a bespoke perfume for anyone who asks. He rightly speaks of ‘una experiencia sensorial nueva’ (a new sensory experience), and I’d add: ‘in this day and age’.
