Woki Organic Market, BarcelonaSlowly but surely, organic food is carving out a place for itself in Barcelona. A clear example is this small chain, Woki Organic Market, which, with its slogan ‘Como antes pero ahora’ (Like before, but now), has modernised the idea of the market without losing the essence of the produce. There are four Woki markets, and the newest, on Ronda Universitat, shares its space with the restaurant.

The building it occupies used to be the headquarters of Casa Escofet, a company founded in 1886 that made, and still makes, paving tiles. They manufacture almost all the paving slabs on Barcelona’s pavements, even those on Passeig de Gràcia.

Woki Market has kept the building’s original structure. One open-plan space brings market and restaurant together. In the market you can buy fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese and so on, while in the restaurant you can enjoy wok dishes, pasta, pizza, sushi and meat, all organically farmed, of course.

They also do takeaway food and home delivery of fruit and veg boxes and other orders.
