Cooking workshop, BarcelonaThe idea of the tapa is getting more and more sophisticated, and a simple tapa, meaning a small portion of food to go with a drink, can now become a little culinary delicacy. The world of tapas offers a whole range of possibilities. I saw it for myself at the creative tapas cooking workshop I did last week, where we made three tapas, each tastier than the last:

  • Cornflake-coated king prawns with soy and honey sauce
  • Crispy brick pastry filled with mushrooms and leek
  • And the one that took the prize for me: Swiss chard ravioli filled with mascarpone, raisins and pine nuts, on a bed of chopped tomato with bacon shavings.

To be honest, they’re not difficult to cook, but they are elaborate, so these little bites take a while to make, and they’ll only serve as a starter for a dinner.

If anyone would like to know how to make any of these tapas, don’t hesitate to ask and I’ll do what I can. Although I doubt I can explain it as well as the chef who ran the course. 😉

And if you’re into cooking, Taller de Cocina Sabores runs a variety of cooking and cocktail courses.
