Have you ever tried goat’s cheese ice cream? Well, among its many flavours, Bodevici has exactly that, and I have to say it took me very pleasantly by surprise.

This ice cream parlour in Gràcia has the best ice cream in Barcelona! Not only because of the delicious flavours on offer (chocolate, leche merengada [meringue milk], raspberry, hazelnut, coconut, goat’s cheese, mint chocolate, etc.) but also because of the ‘bioconcept’ behind it. It’s a 100% sustainable ice cream parlour. Its ice creams are made with organic ingredients (in other words, no colourings, no preservatives, no synthetic chemicals…) and the packaging is biodegradable. A blackboard clearly sets out what bioconcept means: going beyond ‘recycling’, it embraces health, sustainability and care for the environment and for people.

The creator and owner is called Jordi. With the idea already in mind, he spent a year learning the trade at the artisan ice cream factory that supplies him today. He works very closely with the factory, which means he can tweak and adapt the ice creams to customers’ tastes. The staff, all lovely and familiar with what goes into every single ice cream, give excellent service and can answer anything you ask them.

So as not to depend on the season, and keen to stay open all year round, they also serve hot chocolate, cocas de cristal (thin, crispy flatbreads), yoghurt with fruit and juices, all of it organic.

The ice creams are suitable for coeliacs, and some are lactose-free and others sugar-free.

If you’re adventurous and you like ice cream and goat’s cheese, I’d encourage you to try the goat’s cheese one! It’s very mild and I promise it’ll surprise you in a good way.
