Pla restaurant
On a romantic evening stroll through Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, we discovered a restaurant that I recommend to friends looking for a special dinner. You are now entering Pla restaurant.
The space and the lighting, warm and low, create an intimate, relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy your partner’s company and the exquisite cooking Pla offers, all accompanied by pleasant background music and excellent service. The layout works well: the ground floor is perfect for a family dinner, while the upper floor is ideal for surprising your partner.
General view from the upper floor
The restaurant serves creative Mediterranean cuisine, with plenty of salads and carpaccios as starters and elaborate fish or meat dishes as mains. Highlights include the exquisite chargrilled ox fillet with seared foie gras and the grilled cubes of smoked salmon. All this, accompanied by a good selection of Catalan, Spanish and French wines, means every diner leaves happy with the variety.
The portions are just right, leaving room to try one of the home-made desserts on the menu. And if, after dessert, you let yourself be carried away by the pleasant sobremesa (that lingering after-dinner chat at the table) the setting invites, you can round things off with a gin and tonic…
The restaurant has only a few tables, so booking ahead is essential. The average price per person with wine is around €40.
