Night tour of Poblenou Cemetery
Last Thursday we went on the night tour of Poblenou Cemetery organised by Cementiris de Barcelona. They only run this tour twice a year, in November and March, and it always fills up with curious visitors. Several characters in period costume act as your guides along the route, which lasts an hour, and they explain the history of the cemetery, focusing on some of the famous people buried there. The path is lit by large candles on the ground, but everyone also carries a candle in their hand. Violin music accompanies walkers at several points along the route. Thoroughly recommended.
For photos, and to enjoy the ‘pantheonic’ side of the cemetery a little more, the best time to book this night tour in March is 19:15.
Entry is free, but don’t forget to book in advance.
And to round off the route, I’d recommend going for dinner at Racó de la Vila restaurant. Spectacular!
