Slow5 and Restaurante Vinya-Roel
Last Thursday we enjoyed another Slow5 organised by Grup Olivé, this time held at Restaurante Vinya-Roel, a restaurant devoted to the world of wine, whose main aim is a good food and wine pairing.
Proof of that was a delicious menu and some excellent wines to go with each dish, all explained by Juan Muga, grandson of the founder of the Muga winery.
Here’s the full pairing menu:
Appetiser
Toast with assorted wild mushrooms and foie gras
D.O.C. Rioja
2012 Muga Fermentado en Barrica Viura and Malvasia
Starter
Fresh spinach lasagne, Catalan style
D.O.C. Rioja
2009 Muga Crianza, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano
First course
Bacalao ajoarriero (salt cod) Vinya-Roel style
D.O.C. Rioja
2005 Prado Enea Gran Reserva, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano
Second course
D.O.C. Rioja
2009 Muga Reserva Selección Especial, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano
Dessert
Warm chocolate soufflé with nuts, two ways
D.O.C. Rioja
2009 Torre Muga Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano
As we tasted the wines, each one better than the last, the evening got livelier and so did our table. We were in the company of Dafne from BCN Cool Hunter, Amparo, Pablo, Andrea, Cristina and Lorena. Our evening started very well and ended brilliantly! A magical finale courtesy of tu mago, little gift included.
Long live Slow5! Long live Vinya-Roel! Long live Bodegas Muga! And long live mesa5 (table 5)!
The previous Slow5 was at Restaurante Barceloneta.
Thanks to everyone, and especially to Grup Olivé for organising such enriching events.
